Health Facilities Licensing (HFL) Department is one of the main departments of Health Regulation Division at Health Authority- Abu Dhabi (HAAD), UAE. Health facilities licensing function started in July 2005. Initially only with 409 medical facilities and 164 pharmaceutical facilities.
Licensure by the Facility Licensing Department at the HAAD is mandatory prior to starting a new healthcare facility or modifying the licensing details of an existing facility. A healthcare facility cannot operate without a current and valid license. A license is only valid for the owner and location for which it was originally issued. Failure to apply for the renewal of a license prior to the expiration date renders the license void.
Objectives:
- To regulate and ensure that health care facilities provide health care services in accordance with approved standards, laws and regulations.
- To ensure a focused, responsive, uniform implementation of health regulations and standards.
- To promote accreditation for health care facilities.
- To compile and analyze relevant information to support decision making.
- To establish and implement processes and a mechanism for issuing and renewal of licensure within regulatory timeframes.
- To manage the interface between HAAD and the facility licensees.
