We accept Medical reports, requesting treatment abroad, either referred by doctors working in the Abu Dhabi Health Authority Hospitals, or directly from individual patients.
On receipt of these reports, they are documented together with the personal details of the patient.
These documents are then presented to the Medical Committee which decides whether the treatment is available in any of the UAE Government or Private hospitals. If the treatment is not available locally, the committee recommends sending the patient abroad for treatment.
In the event that a decision is taken to send the patient abroad for treatment, the following services are provided by the administration:
- Arranging an appointment for the patient to be seen abroad.
- Arranging tickets and transportation for the patient and his official escorts to the country where it was decided that he is to be undergone the treatment.
- Receiving the patient on arrival to the country of treatment, and escorting him to the hospital or place of residence.
- Providing help in finding suitable accommodation for the patient and legal escorts.
- Providing a interpreter for the patient at the hospital.
- Booking tickets and arranging transportation for the return journey to the UAE.
- Arranging payment of the daily allowances for the patient and legal escorts as stipulated by the policies laid down for “treatment abroad”.
- If the patient’s condition is unfit to be transported by a commercial flight, the International Care Department will provide an ambulance aircraft to transport the patient to the country of treatment.
