Definition

The Medical Board Committee is a Technical Committee, which is comprised of consultant national doctors of high experience in different medical fields. It aims at organizing and developing matters concerned with sick leaves, estimating disability percentage and fitness for work and others that have something to do with injuries & illness.

The Medical Board Committee is authorized, according to the Civil Service Law of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi No. (1), to supervise, inspect and issue the final resolution in all medical reports specialized to be submitted to it by governmental and private bodies (administrations) in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. This is in accordance with the suitable local and universal measurements and standards

Medical Board Committee Responsibilities

1.  Attestation of sick leaves medical reports as follows:
  - Attestation of sick leaves issued from UAE hospitals and clinics.
  - Attestation of sick leaves issued from abroad (nationals treatment is on the  government expenses / treatment is on the patient's expenses)
  - Attestation of escort sick leaves
2.  Assessment of the disability percentage for the following cases:
  - Work accidents and occupational diseases
  - Road Traffic Accidents
  - Assault Accidents
3.  Considering medical exemptions in various fields & professions.
4.  Assessment of work fitness   upon the request of governmental organization.
5.  Assessment of labor fitness after the age of sixty (extension of service).
6.  Assessment of work fitness of the employee with special needs. (Appointment of new candidate)
7.  Issuing the Medical opinion for the cases referred from courts in the U.A.E.
8.  Assessment of mental status and the ability of the patient to manage his/her financial affairs on his/her own in order to enable the court to nominate a  guardian on medical basis.
9.  Specifying patients who deserve Handicapped parking area on medical grounds
10. Considering the right of getting free health cards for non national patients with special needs.
11. Assessment of fitness for driving training for patients who suffer from congenital or acquired anomalies.
