The PDIC staff consists of the section head who is trained in medical toxicology and five poison and drug information officers who are trained in poison and drug informaton. Each call/inquiry to the PDIC is answered by a specialists in poison and drug Information who is specially trained in the management of poisoning emergencies.

The staff utilizes many different resources before recommendations are made to patients. Computer data bases, as well as a comprehensive drug information and toxicological library, are on hand for the most up-to-date information.
