Department of Health – Abu Dhabi signs agreement with Rabdan Academy

DoH and Rabdan Academy’s partnership is set to reinforce patient safety, emergency preparedness and crisis management across the sector

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 12 December, 2018- The Department of Health– Abu Dhabi (DoH), the regulator of the healthcare sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, has signed a cooperation agreement with Rabdan Academy, a world-class governmental educational institution,that aims to enhance learning outcomes for organisations and individuals. The agreement will see the two entities work together to enhance patient safety, emergency preparedness as well as crisis management across Abu Dhabi’s healthcare system. The collaboration is intended to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and expertise between the two entities in line with DoH’s vision to improve the quality of healthcare in the capital.

The signing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Hamed, Chairman of the Department of Health, while the agreement was signed by His Excellency Mohamed Hamad Al Hameli, Undersecretary of the Department of Health and His Excellency Dr. Faisal Obeid Al-Ayyan, Vice-President of Rabdan Academy.

The agreement will see medical and administrative staff across the healthcare sector, including those from governmental, semi-governmental and private healthcare facilities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi undergo training at Rabdan Academy. The training courses are set to focus on a number of key topics including how to deal with emergencies, crisis and incident management, and business continuity.

His Excellency Mohamed Al Hameli stated that the agreement coincides with the strategic vision of the Department of Health, as it aims to elevate the level of responsiveness of the health sector in Abu Dhabi in the face of emergencies and crises; all in the name of achieving “A Healthier Abu Dhabi”. Furthermore, he noted that the agreement will play a pivotal part in training the medical and managerial staff to boost efficiency and build trust between the health sectors’ personnel; for they are an integral unit in the response towards emergencies and crises.

His Excellency also highlighted DoH’s belief that training is of the utmost importance; as focusing on human resources proves to be the building blocks for a prosperous and dynamic work environment.

H.E. Dr. Faisal Al-Ayyan stressed the eagerness of the Rabdan Academy to strengthen partnerships all those who serve its academic vision and objectives. He noted that the agreement comes as part of its efforts to further enhance the national readiness of institutions and individuals alike.

H.E. also remarked that the Rabdan Academy strives to facilitate knowledge sharing on an ongoing basis, stressing the importance of cooperation and integration between government agencies to consolidate efforts, optimise performance and increase quality of work across the board.

The agreement will see the entities design and present academic and professional programmes in the fields of safety management, emergency preparedness and crisis management. Additionally, the collaboration will give way to the creation of joint research as well as academic and professional programmes. The agreement also highlights the importance of offering relevant technical support, knowledge-sharing, as well as the development of key training programmes in the areas of prevention, business continuity, occupational health and safety, corporate excellence, quality management, emergency preparedness and crisis management, among others.
